May was another impactful month for our state financial officers as they continued leading the fight against waste, fraud, and abuse while advancing solutions that help taxpayers and strengthen government accountability.

We welcomed state financial officers, partners, and supporters from across the country to our Spring National Meeting. Together, we focused on some of the most pressing challenges facing American families, including affordability, transparency, and the responsible stewardship of taxpayer dollars.

We were also proud to welcome Ohio Auditor Keith Faber as the 42nd state financial officer to join SFOF. His work uncovering nearly $9 billion dollars in waste, fraud, and abuse exemplifies the important role state financial officers play in protecting taxpayers.

Across the country, our officers delivered meaningful results for the people they serve. Here’s a snapshot of their work:

• Ohio Treasurer Robert Sprague launched Buckeye Billfold, expanding digital payment options and modernizing how Ohioans interact with state government.
• Nebraska Treasurer Joey Spellerberg advanced affordability initiatives through Nebraska’s new First-Time Homebuyers Savings Account program.
• Indiana Comptroller Elise Nieshalla introduced the Indiana Funding Expenditure Dashboard, providing taxpayers with greater transparency into government spending.
• North Carolina Auditor Dave Boliek leveraged artificial intelligence to strengthen oversight efforts and identify waste, fraud, and abuse more efficiently.
• Nebraska Auditor Mike Foley utilized GPS technology to uncover misuse of government resources and improve accountability.
• North Carolina Treasurer Brad Briner earned national recognition for promoting financial literacy and helping residents make informed financial decisions.
• Missouri Auditor Scott Fitzpatrick highlighted the importance of transparency throughout the property valuation and homeownership process.
• West Virginia Treasurer Larry Pack launched a new initiative encouraging families to enroll their children in the new Trump Accounts.
• Utah Auditor Tina Cannon uncovered millions of dollars intended for nursing home care that never reached patients, reinforcing the need for strong oversight.
