John McMillan now serves as the Executive Director of the Alabama Medical Cannabis Commission.
He grew up in the rural community of Stockton, Alabama in Baldwin County. After graduating from Baldwin County High School, McMillan attended Rhodes College where he earned a BA in economics and returned to work at the family sawmill.
His interest in public service grew out of his appointment by Governor Albert Brewer to the Baldwin County Commission.
McMillan served on the Baldwin County Commission, was twice elected as a State Representative, served as Commissioner of the Alabama Department of Conservation & Natural Resources, was Executive Vice President of the Alabama Forestry Association for over 20 years, and served 14 years on the State Personnel Board.
During his time as the Commissioner of the Alabama Department of Conservation & Natural Resources, McMillan was instrumental in the creation of the Alabama Trust Fund, a state trust to preserve the revenue from offshore oil and gas leases.
McMillan was elected as Commissioner of the Alabama Department of Agriculture and Industries in 2010 and re-elected in 2014.
During his first term as Commissioner, McMillan was appointed by Governor Robert Bentley to serve as a member of the Alabama Transportation Rehabilitation and Improvement Program (ATRIP) and as Chairman of the Alabama Drone Task Force.
McMillan has served as President of the Southern Association of State Departments of Agriculture (SASDA), the Southern United States Trade Association (SUSTA), on the Board of the National Association of State Departments of Agriculture (NASDA),and continues to serve on the Board of the University of South Alabama Foundation.
Besides an enthusiasm for community and public service, McMillan loves hunting, fishing and other outdoor activities.
He and his wife, Kathryn, have two sons William and Murphy. Murphy and his wife Beth have two children, daughter El and son John.

Angela M. Rodell serves as the Chief Executive Officer / Executive Director of the Alaska Permanent Fund Corporation, having been selected in October of 2015 by the Corporation’s Board of Trustees. The APFC is a state-owned corporation, based in Juneau, Alaska, that manages and invests the assets of the $57 billion Alaska Permanent Fund and other funds designated by law. As the CEO, Ms. Rodell is leading the APFC at a pivotal time in history as it continues to emerge as a revenue generating center for the State of Alaska.
Ms. Rodell also served on the APFC’s Board of Trustees as a cabinet member, having been appointed Commissioner of the Department of Revenue in August, 2013 by Governor Sean Parnell. In addition to serving as a Trustee, Commissioner Rodell enjoyed the oversight role in working with the divisions and 900 employees within Revenue, and participated as a member of several boards, including the Alaska Retirement Management Board, the Alaska Housing Finance Corporation Board, the Alaska State Bond Committee and the Alaska Industrial Development and Export Authority, among others.
Ms. Rodell first joined the State of Alaska in September, 2011, as State Treasurer and Deputy Commissioner over Revenue’s Treasury Division, Permanent Fund Dividend Division and the Child Support Services Division. Formerly, Ms. Rodell served as financial advisor to more than $30 billion of transactions for state and state authorities in more than nine states, including Alaska. Transactions included general obligation, pension obligation, public power, tobacco securitization, affordable housing, and toll road and transportation financing. Prior to becoming a financial advisor, Ms. Rodell served as the finance officer to Kentucky Housing Corporation.
Angela Rodell has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and a Masters in Public Administration from the University of Kentucky in Lexington, Kentucky.

As commissioner, Ms. Mahoney was responsible for the following functions: Treasury, Tax, Child Support collection, and distribution, distribution of the Permanent Fund Dividend, and Economic Research and fiscal planning. She was a Trustee for the Alaska Permanent Fund Corporation that provides oversite for Alaska’s $82 Billion savings account. She was also a trustee for Alaska Retirement systems, where the assets under management are $33 billion. Ms. Mahoney was a board member of the Alaska Housing Authority as well. The commissioner provides policy advice and support for the Governor’s initiatives.
Ms. Mahoney has over 30 years of broad business experience in the areas of public finance, consulting, treasury, debt management, investment management, budgeting, reporting, strategic planning, audit, Sarbanes Oxley, business valuations, and shared services. Over the years, she has worked with Fortune 10 oil companies, government agencies, Alaska Native Corporations/villages, large and small businesses, and not-for-profit organizations. Formerly, Ms. Mahoney was the CFO for the Municipality of Anchorage, where she was responsible for the fiscal management of the following functions: budget, public finance, accounting, treasury, purchasing, technology, tax assessment, and 49th State Angel Fund. She provided leadership and fiscal governance that enabled a credit upgrade to AAA. Ms. Mahoney also managed the Arctic Slope Regional Corporation (ASRC) shared services center. Prior to that, she was a Director with KPMG LLP managing its business consulting practice in Alaska. Finally, she held various management positions in accounting, analysis, systems, and audit during her career with ARCO, a multi-billion oil company.

Jeff DeWit was appointed by President Donald J. Trump and confirmed by the U.S. Senate as the CFO of NASA in the spring of 2018.
DeWit was elected to his first term as Arizona State Treasurer on November 4, 2014. He took office January 5, 2015 as Arizona’s 33rd State Treasurer.
As Arizona’s Chief Banker and Investment Officer, Treasurer DeWit oversaw more than $13 Billion in state assets and serves as an investment manager for local governments. Treasurer DeWit also served as the Chairman of Arizona’s State Board of Investment, and State Loan Commission. He also served as the State’s Surveyor General and was a member of the State Land Selection Board.
Treasurer Jeff DeWit is a successful Financial Professional with over 22 years of experience. He started his career in finance in 1992 at one of the largest brokerage firms in the country, moving up quickly to become one of Smith Barney’s youngest fully licensed Investment Professionals. In the mid-90s Jeff became a Market Maker in financial futures contracts as one of the youngest Full Members of the CME as well as a Full Member of the Chicago Board of Trade.
In 1999, Treasurer DeWit started a company called ECHOtrade. During his 14 years as CEO of their Phoenix headquarters, Treasurer DeWit grew the company to over 500 licensed professional traders worldwide. Under leadership of Treasurer DeWit, the company had a total volume in excess of a billion shares traded a month. He developed/pioneered one of the first software platforms that enabled market makers to trade off the exchange floor reducing costs and creating efficiency, while producing some of the best real-time financial risk management software and algorithms.
In the 2014 general election, Treasurer DeWit received the most votes of any state-wide elected official in the history of Arizona with 1,063,472.
Treasurer DeWit has a degree in Business Administration with a minor in Finance, and also has an accounting degree. He is married to Marina, they have three daughters and reside in the Northwest Valley of Phoenix.

The Honorable Eileen I. Klein served as the 34th Treasurer of Arizona. As the state’s chief banking and investment officer, she safeguarded more than $15 Billion in assets and was the steward of the financial activity of Arizona’s $35 Billion state budget and related payments to state agencies, local governments, public schools, and other entities. As Treasurer, she also served as the Chair of Arizona’s State Board of Investment and State Loan Commission and was a member of the State Land Selection Board.
With more than 20 years of strategic fiscal and executive management experience in the public and private sector, Treasurer Klein has a unique financial perspective for this important leadership role in Arizona’s growth and development.
Treasurer Klein has served as Chief of Staff to Governor Janice K. Brewer, where she played a key role in developing and charting the path to recovery following the Great Recession. That plan, centered on economic competitiveness and job creation, resolved the state’s budget crisis, implemented key tax and regulatory reforms, and modernized state government operations through initiatives like personnel reform. Recognizing that education is key to individual opportunity and state success, the plan also protected public education through Prop 100, aligned the state’s P-20 education system under a common set of goals and introduced numerous reforms to promote greater choice for parents and transparency in student outcomes.
Most recently, Treasurer Klein served as President of the Arizona Board of Regents (ABOR) with oversight of the $5.1 Billion Arizona Public University Enterprise and its nearly 180,000 students at Arizona State University, Northern Arizona University and the University of Arizona. Launched under her leadership, the ABOR Enterprise plan created a more student-centered, performance-driven, accountable, and transparent public university system. Today, Arizona’s public universities are recognized as among the most competitive, cost-effective, and successful in the country.
In the private sector, Treasurer Klein served as Chief Operating Officer and Vice President of State Affairs for a Fortune 25 healthcare company.
Treasurer Klein‘s public service includes numerous business, community and philanthropic organizations. She currently represents Arizona as an appointed commissioner for the Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education (WICHE) and is chair of Achieve60AZ, Arizona’s statewide alliance to encourage education beyond high school. She is a member of the Valley of the Sun United Way Board of Directors. She previously served as a gubernatorial appointee to the Arizona State Board of Education. Among her numerous honors she was named Phoenix Business Journal’s ’25 Most Admired Business Leaders’, ‘Leader of the Year in Public Policy’ by the Arizona Capitol Times and the ‘Transformational Leader of 2018’ by the Arizona Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

In 2014, Andrea Lea was elected the 40th Auditor of State. As Auditor, Andrea put her experience to work as the state’s general accountant, administrator of the Arkansas Unclaimed Property Act, and payroll officer for over 600 elected officials and their employees. She partnered with businesses to save money and used technology to improve the way unclaimed property is reported to the state and returned to the rightful owners through the Great Arkansas Treasure Hunt. She worked to reduce operating expenses and establish transparency as the foundation of the Auditor’s office.
Andrea Lea has nearly two decades of leadership experience in Arkansas. She served on the Pope County Quorum Court, the Russellville City Council, and three terms in the Arkansas General Assembly before being elected Auditor of State.
Andrea graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Emergency Administration and Management from Arkansas Tech University at the age of 47 and continues to advocate for non-traditional students to return to school and complete a degree.
She is a proud daughter, wife, and mother to U.S. Veterans. With family ties to Arkansas, she and her husband Phillip returned in 1982. They have three grown children and three grandchildren.

State Treasurer Walker Stapleton’s roots run deep in Colorado, his family has been actively involved in Colorado since the early 1900’s. As Colorado State Treasurer, Walker continued this proud family tradition of community leadership.
Until being sworn in as Colorado’s 43rd State Treasurer on January 11, 2011, Treasurer Stapleton served as CEO and CFO of various private and publicly traded companies. His extensive private sector background in finance has uniquely prepared him for the job of State Treasurer.
The duties of the Colorado State Treasurer’s office included, investing Colorado’s tax dollars, overseeing the unclaimed property division, which distributed property back to its lawful owners, and served on the board of the Colorado Public Employee Retirement Association (PERA).
Walker envisioned a more fiscally responsible and effective state government. His priorities as Colorado’s Treasurer were to safely and prudently invest Colorado’s tax dollars, reform Colorado’s PERA, and bring a higher level of accountability and transparency to government.
Walker, his wife Jenna, son Craig and daughters Colette and Olivia, live in Arapahoe County. Treasurer Stapleton’s community service includes serving on the Leadership Council of J.K. Mullen High School, and he and his wife are directors of Denver’s chapter of Social Venture Partners.
Walker graduated from Williams College in Massachusetts, and he holds a graduate degree in business economics from the London School of Economics and an MBA from Harvard Business School.

A fifth-generation Floridian, Jeff Atwater was elected Florida's Chief Financial Officer on November 2, 2010, and sworn into office on January 4, 2011. His commitment to public service began in 1993, when his hometown of North Palm Beach elected him Vice Mayor. Mr. Atwater was subsequently elected to the House of Representatives in 2000 and the Florida Senate in 2002 and was unanimously selected by his fellow senators to serve as Senate President in 2008. In addition to his service as an elected official, Mr. Atwater has twenty-five years of community banking experience and has performed volunteer work with many charitable and not-for-profit organizations and has served on a number of governing boards, including the United Way, Chamber of Commerce, Big Brothers and Big Sisters, and Take Stock in Children, among others. Mr. Atwater earned his Bachelor's degree in finance and an MBA from the University of Florida.

Governor Brian P. Kemp appointed Lynne Riley to serve as Georgia’s first woman to hold the office of State Treasurer in May, 2019. In July 2020, he appointed Treasurer Riley to be the President of the Georgia Student Finance Commission.
A thirty year resident of Johns Creek Georgia, Lynne Riley served four years in the General Assembly representing House District 50. As a State Representative, Riley served on several influential committees, including Ways and Means, Natural Resources and Environment, Retirement, and the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Oversight Committee. Riley was the Fulton County House Delegation Chair during the 2013-2014 Legislative Session, and she served as one of Governor Nathan Deal’s Floor Leaders in 2014. In 2015, Governor Deal appointed Riley to serve as State Revenue Commissioner, a role she performed for over 4 years. Riley has also served in local government as the District 3 Fulton County Commissioner from July 2004 to December 2010. In service to the citizens of North Fulton, Lynne collaborated with the Fulton Legislative Delegation in the creation of the new cities of Sandy Springs, Johns Creek, and Milton.
Riley recently served as Vice President of the Federation of Tax Administrators and a Board Member of the Southeast Association of Tax Administrators. Lynne served on the IRS Identity Theft Tax Refund Fraud Information Sharing & Analysis Center Executive Board and was part of the Service’s Security Summit Leadership Team. Riley was appointed to the IRS Electronic Tax Administration Advisory Committee in 2018 for a three year term. Riley is a member of the Class of 2005 of the Atlanta Regional Commission's Regional Leadership Institute and an alumnus of the Coverdell Leadership Institute. Lynne chairs the Board of Trustees of the Johns Creek Economic Development Corporation, and she is a member of the Emory Johns Creek Hospital Board of Trustees. Lynne was Principal of Riley Accounting Services for over 30 years. Lynne and her husband Mike have three adult children and two grandchildren.

Ron G. Crane was born in Nampa, Idaho. He is a graduate of Nampa Christian High School and later graduated from college with an Associate’s Degree. He received an honorary doctorate from Ohio Christian University in 2008. He served as a member in the Idaho National Guard from 1971 — 1977, receiving recognition as Idaho’s Soldier of the Year in 1975.
Ron served as Idaho's State Treasurer for 20 years becoming one of the nation's longest serving State Treasurers. As state treasurer Mr. Crane was responsible for management of both the state and local government investment pools with a daily balance in excess of $3.2 billion dollars. He directed receipt of all state monies, the accounting and disbursement of public funds, and invested general account and pooled agency cash in various fixed income securities to produce significant new non-tax revenue for the State of Idaho. He has overseen issuance of instruments of state debt and paid all warrants issued by the State Controller’s Office. He also directed the investments of the Idaho Millennium Fund and the Idaho Millennium Permanent Endowment Fund.
The Treasurer also served as the unclaimed property administrator for the State of Idaho. He was president of the National Association of Unclaimed Property Administrators (NAUPA) in 2011.
As Treasurer, Mr. Crane was a member of the State Board of Canvassers, administrator of the Local Government Investment Pool , custodian of Idaho Endowment Funds, custodian of Worker’s Compensation security deposits made by insurance companies, administrator of the Underground Storage Tank Upgrade Assistance Account, and was an ex-officio advisor to the Idaho Housing and Finance Association. He was chairman of the College Savings Plan advisory board, Chairman of the Idaho Bond Bank Authority and Chairman of the Idaho Credit Rating Enhancement Committee . He received a national award from the US Small Business Administration for innovative programs that provide capital to Idaho small businesses by founding the Prime Rate Loan Program know as ” Idaho Prime “.
Prior to his election as Treasurer in 1998, Mr. Crane served 16 years in the Idaho House of Representatives. While there, he chaired the House State Affairs Committee for 4 years and the Business Committee for 7 years. He also served as co-chairman of the Interim Committee on Electrical Restructuring. During his public service, he received the Guardian of Small Business Award from NFIB and the Legislative Champion of the Family Award.
Mr. Crane started his own successful business, Crane Alarm Service, in 1979. Today, Crane Alarm is one of the oldest and largest alarm companies in Idaho. He is a member of the Nampa and Caldwell, Idaho Chambers of Commerce, was a founding member of the Lifeline Crisis Pregnancy Center, and served on the board of trustees for Nampa Christian Schools.
Mr. Crane has been married to his wife, Cheryl, since 1969. They have six children, four girls and two boys, and nine grandchildren. The Cranes reside in Nampa, Idaho.

Richard E. Mourdock served as State Treasurer of Indiana from 2007 to 2014. Since retiring Mourdock has been a consultant to Ascensus College Savings facilitating the implementation of policies that create retirement savings for middle and lower income working Americans.
He is the author of the newly published novel, “Demand of the Dragon”, a dystopian account of America’s future resulting from massive debt.
Mourdock also serves as treasurer of the Booker T. Washington Socitety: an organization founded to instruct African American students on the history, success and belief of Booker T. Washington in capitalism and self-reliance.
Mourdock was twice elected Treasurer of State for Indiana, first in 2007, then a second term in 2011. He was the republican nominee for the U.S. Senate in 2012, and the nominee for the 8th Congressional District of Indiana in 1990 and 1992.
From 1975-2007 Mourdock worked as a Geologist employed in numerous technical and executive positions (including field geologist and President) in the energy industry. From 1994-2000 he was a trustee for an ERISA retirement plan with 300+ participants. He served as County Executive in Vanderburgh County, Indana from 1995-2002.
Mourdock earned his bachelor of science in natural systems (ecology) in 1973 from Defiance College and his Master’s of Science in Geology in 1975 from Ball State University.
Mourdock resides with wife of 42 years, Marilyn and her cats in Darmstadt, Indiana.

Kelly Mitchell was elected as the 55th Treasurer for the State of Indiana on November 4th, 2014. In this role, Treasurer Mitchell serves as the Chair of the Indiana Bond Bank, the Statewide E-911 Board, the Indiana Education Savings Authority, the ABLE Authority, and as the Sole Trustee of the State Police Pension Trust among a number of other positions. As the Chief Investment Officer for the State, she is responsible for the management of approximately five to seven billion dollars on a daily basis.
For seven years prior to becoming Treasurer, Kelly Mitchell worked in the Treasurer of State’s Office as the Director of TrustINdiana, Indiana’s local government investment pool.
Prior to joining the Indiana Treasurer of State’s Office, Kelly Mitchell was a County Commissioner for eight years in Cass County, Indiana. During her tenure as Commissioner, she served as President of the Board of Commissioners for five years and was named First-Term Commissioner of the Year by the Association of County Commissioners. Treasurer Mitchell also served on the State Board of the Association of County Commissioners for three years, and as a member of the County Government Senate Study Commission. As Commissioner, she served seven years on the Logansport-Cass County Economic Development Foundation and as President of the Foundation for one year. She founded and co-chaired Cass County “Make a Difference Day”, managing hundreds of volunteers and dozens of projects every year.
Treasurer Mitchell holds a B.A. in Political Science from Valparaiso University and a M.A. in Philanthropic Studies from Indiana University – Purdue University, Indianapolis (IUPUI). In 2018, the Treasurer received an M.A. in Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College. She is an alumna of the Richard G. Lugar Excellence in Public Service Series. During the summer of 2015, Treasurer Mitchell completed The Commandant’s National Security Seminar at the U.S. Army War College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. She participated in the Aspen Institute’s Rodel Fellowship in Public Leadership. The Treasurer was awarded both the Sagamore of the Wabash by then-Governor Mike Pence and the 2016 Torchbearer Award by the Indiana Commission for Women. As Treasurer, she sat on both the Legislative Committee and the Financial Education Committee of the National Association of State Treasurer’s (NAST) as well as on the Executive Committee of the College Savings Plan Network (CSPN). Treasurer Mitchell is also a member of the State Financial Officers Foundation where she served on the Executive Committee and as National Chair in 2020. Treasurer Mitchell resides in Indianapolis, with her husband Larry, and they have a blended family of four children and two grandchildren.

An engineer by trade, he successfully implemented a variety of systems that streamlined operations, increased efficiency and improved customer relations – all while cutting cost. Estes served as Sedgwick County (Kansas) Treasurer and then Kansas State Treasurer before being elected to Congress on April 11, 2017.

Jake LaTurner was sworn in as a member of the 117th Congress in January 2021.
Jake LaTurner has been highly regarded as an idea-driven leader throughout his time in Kansas Government. As the youngest statewide officeholder in the nation, Jake hopes to help raise awareness for the programs provided by the State Treasurer’s Office. He wants to help Kansans plan and prepare for the future.
Prior to being elected to congress, LaTurner was appointed and then elected Kansas State Treasurer. He also was elected to the Kansas State Senate twice, representing the people of Southeast Kansas. He served on the Financial Institutions Committee and was Chairman of Federal and State Affairs. As a state legislator, he worked to create a more efficient state government, and he has a proven record of saving taxpayers’ money.
Before running for elected office, Jake graduated from Pittsburg State University in Southeast Kansas with a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science. Following graduation, he worked for Congresswoman Lynn Jenkins in her Pittsburg office.
Jake has been married to his wife, Suzanne, for 7 years, and has 4 small children. Jake was born in Galena, Kansas and is a 6th generation Kansan. Jake does not only advocate for the programs implemented by the Treasurer’s Office, but he personally utilizes the programs to help his children save for higher education.

Teresea (Terry) Hayes was elected by the Joint Convention of the 127th Maine Legislature to the office of State Treasurer in December 2014. She was the first Independent to hold this position.
From 2006 through 2014 Terry served as a Democrat in the Maine House of Representatives. She was elected Assistant Minority Leader by the House Democratic Caucus in the 125th Legislature and served on the Legislative Council from 2010 through 2012. In 2012-2014 she convened the non-partisan Measures of Growth caucus; in 2009 and 2014 she collaborated with Republican colleagues to bring national civility training and trust building workshops to Maine legislators. She served as a member of the Joint Standing Committee on State and Local Government in the 123rd, 124th, and 126th Legislatures. Prior to her legislative service, Terry served on the local school board from 1991 through 2004.
Terry has been a teacher, an adult education administrator, a real estate educator, and a guardian ad litem in custody litigation. She has owned and operated two businesses. She continues to volunteer in her local communities as a moderator for town meetings and by helping connect local school children with their state government. Terry is a Maine native with a B.A. in Government from Bowdoin College (1980) and an M.B.A. from Thomas College (2014). She and her husband Steve Hayes, LCSW, live in Buckfield. They have three adult children, Charlee, Harry, and Danny, all living and working in Maine.

Lynn Fitch was sworn in as the first woman in Mississippi’s history to serve as Attorney General on January 9, 2020. Fitch served as SFOF National Chair in 2017.
She attended the University of Mississippi in Oxford, where she earned both a Bachelor of Business Administration and a Juris Doctorate. After graduation, Lynn began practicing law as a Special Assistant Attorney General with the Mississippi Attorney General’s Office representing financial and economic development state agencies. She also was in private practice as a bond lawyer with a focus on general and municipal bonds.
In 2009, Lynn was selected by Governor Haley Barbour to serve as Executive Director of the Mississippi State Personnel Board. Prior to MSPB, Lynn served as Deputy Executive Director of External Affairs at the Mississippi Department of Employment Security. Lynn has served as Counsel for the Mississippi House of Representatives Ways and Means and Local and Private Legislation Committees.
As the state’s Chief Financial Officer, Treasurer Fitch serves on numerous boards and commissions. Lynn attended Harvard’s Business School of Management and Leadership Program. She has also been active in several professional associations including The National Association of State Treasurers, the State Financial Officers Foundation and The Mississippi Bar Association. In 2012, The Mississippi Commission on the Status of Women commended her for outstanding leadership. The Mississippi Women Lawyers Association selected Lynn as the Outstanding Woman Lawyer of 2012. She was also recognized as a Woman Trailblazer by the Mississippi Bar Association. Mississippi Business Journal named Lynn as one of Mississippi’s Top 10 Business Women in 2010. She is also proud to have been named a Woman of Distinction by the Girl Scouts of Greater Mississippi in 2013.

Eric Schmitt was appointed Missouri Attorney General in November 2018, by Gov. Mike Parson.
Eric Schmitt is a lifelong, sixth-generation Missourian whose public service has been built on a record of championing economic growth, private sector job creation, taxpayer advocacy and fiscal responsibility.
Prior to being elected Treasurer in 2016, Schmitt’s Missouri constituents had twice elected him to represent the state’s 15th Senate District as a Missouri Senator. As State Senator, Eric has been credited for his leadership as a next-generation conservative, bringing new energy and bold ideas to the forefront and seeking a new era of governance in which initiatives to create private sector jobs and restore fiscal responsibility replace the big government model that has prevented growth and prosperity for Missourians. Eric successfully passed legislation to eliminate the corporate franchise tax and authored two of the largest tax cuts in Missouri history. Eric’s reforms will reduce the personal income tax rate and allow all businesses to deduct 25% of their income.
Eric’s roots in Missouri run deep, stretching through six generations of farmers, teachers and small businesspeople who have lived and worked in the Missouri cities of Tipton, Pilot Grove, Louisiana and St. Louis. Growing up in a middle class household, Eric was the first person in his family to go to college right out of high school. He graduated cum laude from Truman State University in Kirksville, and while at Truman founded a Habitat for Humanity Chapter on campus. He earned a scholarship to attend law school at Saint Louis University where he received his Juris Doctorate becoming the first person in his family to graduate from law school.
Prior to his service in the State Senate, Schmitt served in local government as an Alderman for the city of Glendale. Eric’s son, Stephen was born with a rare genetic condition causing tumors on his organs. He also has epilepsy, is on the autism spectrum and is non-verbal. Eric’s son was his inspiration to run for office to be a voice for people like him. One of Eric’s early legislative victories was taking on insurance companies by leading a bipartisan effort to ensure Missouri families are covered when they need it the most – including therapies for autism. Schmitt lives in Glendale with his wife, Jaime, and their three children, Stephen, Sophia and Olivia. He has been an active member of community non-profits, including the Autism Society, Nurses for Newborns, Crisis Nursery and Habitat for Humanity.

Don Stenberg is a native Nebraskan who grew up in Tekamah, Nebraska. His parents owned and operated a small business out of their home. To earn money for college Don detasseled corn, hauled bales, mowed lawns and life guarded at the local swimming pool. At the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Don walked on to the track team where he lettered and won an athletic scholarship.
After graduating from Harvard Law School and Harvard Business School, Don practiced law in Lincoln, Nebraska, until, in 1979, he was named Legal Counsel to the Governor of Nebraska. Don has also served as Director of the Governor’s Policy Research Office, Assistant to the Governor and Director of the Department of Administrative Services of the State of Nebraska, where he saved Nebraska taxpayers more than $1 million by implementing cost saving measures.
As Nebraska’s Attorney General from 1991 to 2003, Don led the fight for tough anti-crime legislation to protect Nebraska families. He fought in court to protect Nebraska’s irrigation water. And he personally argued in favor of Nebraska’s ban on partial birth abortion in the Supreme Court of the United States. Don effectively and efficiently operated Nebraska’s Attorney General’s Office on the third smallest budget in the United States.
Stenberg took off office as State Treasurer in 2011. During his time as Treasurer, Don cut the State Treasurer’s office budget by more than 14 percent, saving Nebraska taxpayers more than $2.8 million. He also reduced the size of the office staff and made improvements to the StateSpending.Nebraska.gov website that raised its rating by the U.S. Public Interest Research Group (U.S.PIRG) from D to the B range. Under his direction, Nebraska’s 529 College Savings Plan was recognized by Kiplinger’s Personal Finance magazine for the variety of its options, and two of the savings plans have received the highest “5-Cap” rating by the nationally recognized website, savingforcollege.com.
Don served as President of the National Association of Unclaimed Property Administrators and Midwest Vice President of the National Association of State Treasurers.
Don is married to the former Sue Hoegemeyer of Hooper, Nebraska. Don and Sue Stenberg have been married 43 years and have four children.

Dan Schwartz served as Nevada's State Treasurer from January 2015, until January 2019.
During his time as Treasurer he was committed to improving education through the Millennium Scholarship and other college savings plans; to creating jobs through a micro-loan and related investment programs; and to making Nevada’s tax dollars work for its citizens.
Dan grew up in suburban Chicago and attended Princeton University. He graduated from the undergraduate program at the Woodrow Wilson School of Public Policy and International Affairs in 1972. During his junior year, he studied at the Institut d’Etudes Politiques in Paris and received his Certificate. He holds a law degree from Boston University and a business degree from Columbia.
He served in the United States Army (1972-74) and was stationed in Europe as a Pershing Missile Crewman.
Dan has over 35 years of financial experience across multiple sectors of the banking and securities industry in Houston, New York, and internationally. He is also an experienced and accredited investor in the public and private markets.
Over the past 25 years, Dan has started and built several companies. He served as the CEO of AVCJ Group, Ltd. (AVCJ), which publishes the highly-regarded Asian Venture Capital Journal, the first ever print journal to be distributed over the Internet. Dan and his team built AVCJ into Asia’s leading source on conferences and information on Asian private equity and venture capital. A UK company purchased AVCJ in 2006.
Dan is also Founder, President and CEO of Qiosk.com, “The World’s Newsstand,” one of the pioneers and innovative leaders in digital magazine delivery and media. Fifteen years after its creation, Qiosk continues to be profitable and a leader in its field.
Dan is active in the Jewish Federation of Las Vegas and supports many community organizations in Nevada. He is the author of two books, The Future of Finance: How Private Equity and Venture Capital Will Shape the Global Economy (published by John Wiley) and Principles of the American Republic (published by Sturdy Oak Press).
Dan is married, proud of his two daughters, and resides with his wife, Yanan, in Las Vegas and Carson City.

Ron Knecht, an economist, financial and policy analyst, Professional Mechanical Engineer (registered in California), and law-school graduate, became Controller January 5, 2015. As Controller, he also served on Nevada’s Board of Finance, Executive Branch Audit Committee and Department of Transportation Board of Directors.
In his first full fiscal year as Controller, Ron and his management team cut spending 13% from the levels authorized by the Legislature and Governor based on the budget request of his predecessor. At the same time, they added innovations to the work of the office, including publishing Nevada’s first Popular Annual Financial Report, which won an award.
Before being elected Controller, he divided 44 working years between public service and entrepreneurial small business, all in managerial and senior professional positions. He’s been a founder, executive or director for 12 firms, charities, community-service and public-interest groups.
In previous jobs, he testified extensively as an expert witness. In 2012-14, 1986-2001 and 1976-78, he was a consultant and business executive. In 2001-12, he was a senior economist at Nevada’s Public Utilities Commission. He held principal economics, finance, technology and policy positions in 1978-86 at California’s Energy and Public Utilities Commissions.
In 2009-13 he co-taught about ten two-day seminars for SNL Financial on utility finance, cost of capital, and economic and policy issues for regulators, professionals, managers and securities analysts. In 1973-77, he was a Research Associate and Research Engineer at the University of Illinois. In 1972-73 he was Assistant City Engineer in Urbana, Illinois.
Ron was elected to the Board of Regents of the Nevada System of Higher Education in 2006 and re-elected in 2012. For two years, he chaired the Budget & Finance Committee and was Vice-chair another year; he chaired the Audit Committee for two years; and for seven years he was very active on the Investment and Major Projects Committee, which oversees $1-billion of endowment and operating funds. He served on four other committees and on institutional presidential selection and performance-review committees, chairing two of them. Ron was elected to the Nevada Assembly for 2002-04, representing Carson City and Washoe City.
With some scholarship support, he worked his way through undergraduate and early graduate studies at Illinois (BA, Liberal Arts & Sciences; mathematics major; physics & chemistry minor; 1971). Spending most of his working career in San Francisco and Silicon Valley, he paid his way at Stanford (MS, Engineering Economic Systems; 1989) and the University of San Francisco (JD; 1995) working full time. He’s been a columnist for print and on-line papers and has taught part-time at two colleges.
The most important things in Ron’s life are his wife Kathy, their teenage daughter Karyn, and Ron and Kathy’s mothers and families. Raised in a small Midwestern town, he was always active in a wide range of athletics and outdoor activities — a competitive distance runner in high school and college. He enjoys ballet, modern dance, symphony, opera, rock & roll, country & western, theater and film, and he collects baseball cards and pursues other hobbies.

Ford M. Scudder was sworn in as State Treasurer on September 20, 2016. He had previously served as Acting State Treasurer since November 9, 2015. For the past decade, he worked in the private sector for Laffer Associates, a macroeconomic research firm, serving as Chief Operating Officer before joining State government.
Laffer Associates was founded by Dr. Arthur B. Laffer, who was a member of President Reagan’s Economic Policy Board during two terms of that Administration. The firm analyzes macroeconomic trends and the effect of changes in economic policy for its clientele of institutional investors, in addition to engaging in extensive analysis of state economic policies.
Mr. Scudder is a holder of the right to use the Chartered Financial Analyst® designation. He also has analyzed and invested in public equities as a senior analyst at Laffer Investments, a global asset manager. He also has experience investing in private equity, serving as an observer or proxy on the boards of directors of a number of privately held companies.
He was born in Princeton, and his family has a long history in New Jersey. He graduated magna cum laude from Princeton University, earning a bachelor’s degree in economics while also receiving certificates in finance and political economy. He earned his MBA from Vanderbilt University’s Owen Graduate School of Management. Mr. Scudder serves as a member of the national Annual Giving Committee at Princeton University.
Mr. Scudder is married to the former Cristina Hession. They have two daughters and reside in Little Silver.

Josh Mandel served as the 48th Treasurer of the State of Ohio and at the time was the youngest State Treasurer in America. He was elected in 2010 and re-elected in 2014 – winning both elections by double-digits. Josh is a Marine Corps veteran who served two tours in Iraq and previously served two terms in the Ohio House of Representatives. He was first elected State Representative in 2006, knocking on 19,679 doors and wearing out three pairs of shoes. In 2008 he was re-elected to a second term in the state legislature, representing a district with a 2:1 Democrat to Republican voter ratio.
As State Treasurer, Josh helped take Ohio’s financial ranking from 43rd up to 7th in the nation and helped move Ohio from an $8 billion deficit to a $1 billion surplus. He earned a “AAA” rating on the multi-billion dollar local government investment fund his office manages, even as 14 other state and local investment funds were downgraded. In 2014, he was the only State Treasurer in America to be recognized with the Association of Government Accountants award for “Excellence in Financial Management,” and was given the American Society for Public Administration’s “Public Integrity Award” for “outstanding contributions to responsible and ethical conduct in public service.”
Treasurer Mandel has also been a national leader in the cause of increasing government transparency and empowering taxpayers to hold public officials accountable. Near the onset of his first term, Josh posted state employee and teacher salaries online for the first time in Ohio government history. More recently, he launched OhioCheckbook.com, posting Ohio’s checkbook online for the first time in Ohio history. Josh’s leadership in this area helped increase Ohio’s transparency ranking from 46th to 1st in the nation in the U.S. Public Interest Research Group’s ranking of the fifty states.
During his two terms in the state legislature, Treasurer Mandel served as the Ranking Member of the Financial Institutions, Real Estate and Securities Committee, handling issues concerning banks, investment firms and pension funds. He also participated in the reconstruction of investment oversight for the multibillion-dollar Bureau of Workers’ Compensation investment fund. Due to his leadership on these and other issues, Treasurer Mandel was named legislative “Rookie of the Year” by Columbus Monthly Magazine and “Watchdog of the Treasury” by the United Conservatives of Ohio. Josh’s previous elected experience includes service as a Lyndhurst City Councilman, where he led the fight for the first municipal property tax rollback in city history.
Inspired by a strong sense of duty to country, Josh enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves in 2000, where he graduated first in his class from Marine Corps Boot Camp and first in his class from Marine Corps Intelligence School. His Marine Corps career spanned eight years, including two tours in Anbar Province, Iraq. During both tours he was awarded the Navy & Marine Corps Achievement Medal for “superior performance of his duties.” He holds a Bachelor Degree from The Ohio State University and a Law Degree from Case Western Reserve University. Josh and his wife Ilana reside in the Cleveland area with their children Rosie and Judah.

Duane A. Davidson served one term as Washington State Treasurer after being elected four times as Benton County Treasurer. He is a Certified Public Accountant and graduated from Central Washington University with a bachelor’s degree in accounting.
Prior to his election as County Treasurer in 2003, Davidson was the Chief Financial Accountant for Benton County, and before that worked for the Washington State Auditor’s Office as an Assistant Audit Manager.
Other leadership positions have included: President of the Washington State Association of County Treasurers, past President of Kiwanis Clubs in the Tri-Cities, church treasurer, and a member of Gideon International.
In addition to continuous clean audits as Benton County Treasurer, Davidson:
- Modernized the treasurer’s office by automating the processing of property taxes, and launching a website that allows taxpayers to obtain tax information and make online payments;
- Launched the Benton County Treasurer Investment Pool, a consolidated investment fund for public agencies located within the county, with assets ranging $180 to $220 million;
- Upgraded the county’s bond rating as a member and chairman of the County Finance Committee;
- Strengthened internal controls by issuing a comprehensive cash handling policy and developing a detailed policies and procedures manual; and
- Achieved certifications from the Association of Government Accountants and the Association of Public Treasurers and Finance Officers.
Born and raised in Carnation, Wash., Davidson now lives in Olympia, Wash. His hobbies include genealogy and gardening. He is widowed after 21 years of marriage and has three grown children.

Mark Gordon was elected Governor of Wyoming in November of 2018.
Gordon was first appointed to serve as State Treasurer to complete the term of the late Joe Meyer who passed away in October 2012. As Treasurer, Mr. Gordon’s principal duty was to safeguard and invest all the funds of the state. He served as Administrator for the Wyoming State Treasurer’s Asset Reserve (WYO-STAR), and Wyoming Unclaimed Property. He also served on eight boards and commissions: the Board of Deposits, Board of Land Commissioners, Financial Advisory Council, State Building Commission, State Canvassing Board, State Loan and Investment Board, Wyoming Community Development Authority, and the Wyoming Retirement Board of Directors.
Previously Gov. Gordon served on the board of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City (10-J) as a Class B Director, The Wyoming Wildlife and Natural Resource Trust Board, the Johnson County District 1 K-12 School Board, and on the board of the Nature Conservancy of Wyoming. He has served as vice chair for the Wyoming Stock Growers Tax Committee. He continues to serve as president of the Willow Park Reservoir Company, on the Board of Volunteers of America Northern Rockies, and on the board of the Ucross Foundation. He is a member of Rotary and Elks. He and his wife, Jennie, own and operate businesses and ranches in Buffalo and Kaycee, Wyoming. They are members of the Buffalo Chamber of Commerce, Wyoming Stock Growers, and Woolgrowers.
In 2008 Gordon was a Republican Candidate in the 2008 primary for Wyoming’s At-Large US House of Representatives seat. Prior to that he was Director of Conservation and Stewardship for Apache Corporation, chairman and member of the Wyoming Environmental Quality Council, a board member of the Wyoming Humanities Council, the Northern Wyoming Mental Health Center, Harold Jarrard Park, and Powder River Conservation District as well as the Advisory Board for UW College of Agriculture – Sheridan Research and Extension Center.
Mr. Gordon graduated from Middlebury College in 1979 with a BA in History. He grew up on the family ranch west of Kaycee and settled on his own in 1988. He has had agricultural operations in Johnson, Sheridan, and Campbell counties. His home ranch received the 2009 Excellence in Range Stewardship award from the Society for Range Management. Other businesses have included the “Bookshop,” Abercrombie and Kent “On Safari Ltd” and “The Trading Company” catalogues in Sheridan Wyoming. He is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys fishing, hunting, climbing, skiing, kayaking, and rodeo. His experience reaches to agriculture, mineral development, tourism, finance, recreation, and politics.
He and his wife have four grown children: two sons and two daughters.
