Kansas Treasurer 2017-2021

Jake LaTurner was sworn in as a member of the 117th Congress in January 2021.

Jake LaTurner has been highly regarded as an idea-driven leader throughout his time in Kansas Government. As the youngest statewide officeholder in the nation, Jake hopes to help raise awareness for the programs provided by the State Treasurer’s Office. He wants to help Kansans plan and prepare for the future.

Prior to being elected to congress, LaTurner was appointed and then elected Kansas State Treasurer. He also was elected to the Kansas State Senate twice, representing the people of Southeast Kansas. He served on the Financial Institutions Committee and was Chairman of Federal and State Affairs. As a state legislator, he worked to create a more efficient state government, and he has a proven record of saving taxpayers’ money.

Before running for elected office, Jake graduated from Pittsburg State University in Southeast Kansas with a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science. Following graduation, he worked for Congresswoman Lynn Jenkins in her Pittsburg office.

Jake has been married to his wife, Suzanne, for 7 years, and has 4 small children. Jake was born in Galena, Kansas and is a 6th generation Kansan. Jake does not only advocate for the programs implemented by the Treasurer’s Office, but he personally utilizes the programs to help his children save for higher education.
